Introduction

Sasaab is an exclusive luxury tented camp perched above the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, just outside Samburu National Reserve in Kenya’s Northern Frontier District. Blending Moroccan and Swahili architectural styles, the camp offers a serene oasis with sweeping views across the Laikipia Plateau toward Mount Kenya. Sasaab provides an intimate connection with the African wilderness, combining opulent comfort with authentic cultural experiences.

Location

Sasaab is situated in the Westgate Community Conservancy, approximately 350 kilometers north of Nairobi. By road, the journey from Nairobi takes about 6–7 hours via the A2 highway through Nanyuki and Isiolo. For air travel, scheduled flights from Nairobi's Wilson Airport land at Samburu or Buffalo Springs airstrips, followed by a 45-minute to 1-hour scenic drive to the camp.

Within the camp

  • Accommodation: Nine spacious tents, each over 100 square meters, feature four-poster beds, open-air bathrooms, and private plunge pools with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
  • Dining: Meals are inspired by Moroccan cuisine, utilizing fresh ingredients from the camp's own garden. Dining experiences vary from indoor settings to alfresco meals under the stars
  • Spa Services: A tranquil spa offers a range of treatments, allowing guests to relax while overlooking the river and wilderness.
  • Main Pool & Lounge: The central area includes a swimming pool and a lounge, providing spaces to unwind and socialize.

    Connectivity: Complimentary Wi-Fi is available in the main areas, ensuring guests can stay connected if they choose.

Number of Rooms / Tents / Cottages

Sasaab comprises nine expansive tented suites, including one two-bedroom family tent with interconnecting rooms, all designed to offer privacy, luxury, and a deep connection to the wilderness. Each suite spans over 100 square meters and features high canvas ceilings, open-plan layouts, private plunge pools, and en-suite open-air bathrooms with alfresco showers and double vanities. Private verandas provide sweeping views over the Ewaso Nyiro River and beyond to the Laikipia Plateau and Mount Kenya. With a blend of Moroccan and Swahili design, Sasaab's tents offer an elegant and tranquil retreat for couples, families, and small groups alike.

Child Policy

  • Children under 2 years: Stay free of charge.
  • Children aged 3–12 years sharing with two adults: Pay child rates.
  • Please note: For safety reasons related to the balconies, decks, and railings, families with children under the age of 6 years may not be accommodated.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations made more than 120 days before the commencement of the safari: 25% cancellation charge.
  • Between  30 - 16 days prior to arrival date  will incur 30% of the quotation
  • Between 15-1 day (including NO-show) prior to arrival date will incur 100% of the quotation.
